Start Leveling Up and Be Amazing
7 Things You Should Know This Week: A Tribute to Black Music, Elevation Affirmations, Is Journaling Effective? ... and more
Hey! What’s Jazzin’?

Hi there! It's me again. Your bestie, Damien Lamar. Remember? It's been a while since I sent out one of these emails, and I'm so sorry that it took me this long.
Sometimes I get so focused on creating content to serve you guys that I don't take the time to do the things that matter to me. Creating this newsletter is one of those things, and obviously, I need to get better at making time for it.
There's a lot of talk about leveling up these days. People want to be better at what they do—and not just in their professional lives, but in their personal lives as well. It's not about being better than someone else; it's about being the best that you can be and taking pride in that. Whether that's through becoming more productive (removing distractions and creating a routine) or getting a better night's sleep by practicing good sleep hygiene, we don't know where the road will take us.
So with all that said, I want to thank you for being here with me on this ride. And second of all, let's just jump right in and get back on track, shall we? I hope you enjoy the resources I’ve collected for you. This week’s newsletter is packed full of resources to help you get started on your journey to living your best life.
I love listening to music, especially when I'm working in my home office. I am going to start off with a tribute to black music because music is such a powerful tool and I think it's important that we all understand the relationship between music and progress in this country. I put together two playlists on Apple Music and Spotify to showcase some of the incredible black artists who have shaped my taste in music.
Affirmations are those little sayings that give us a boost when we need them. Some people think they're cheesy or silly, but they've been proven to help us shift our mindset from one of defeat to one of optimism. Try writing down a few affirmations each morning that really speak to you! I put together a special 11:11:11 Elevation Affirmation Mix. They're designed to help you focus your thoughts on positive things and continue to attract all the good to your life experience.
Journaling is another one of my favorite ways to get back on track and stay motivated, but there's a lot of conflicting information about how effective it can be. Studies show that it reduces stress, boosts immunity, improves relationships… and that just scratches the surface. However, does journaling actually help us achieve our goals? I found a cool post to help you start with journal prompts for the rest of 2022.
Angie Nixon, my friend and State Representative of Florida’s House District 14 is hosting a virtual Homeowner Workshop on March 10, 2022. Learn about: ways to make homeownership possible, credit counseling, types of financing, working with a realtor, and the importance of homeowners’ insurance.
I found this amazing post about God's name (YHWH) written by a woman named Sandra Thurman Caporale. I hope it encourages you as much as it did me!
I was on my way to the barbershop last week and felt compelled to speak some positivity and share it with my followers on TikTok. Here is some encouragement for you - created to remind you just how amazing YOU are.
I.C.Y.M.I (In case you missed it), I produced and released, Love Is A Temple: a lyric video as a single in April 2021 written by my long-time writing partner Chris Anderson and featuring the amazing music production by MixtapeSeoul 믹스테잎서울. It’s my dedication to love. I wanted to highlight intimate moments and the faces of lovers of all nationalities, sexual orientations, and ages to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and love in all relationships. I hope you enjoy it.❤️
That's all for now— I appreciate you taking the time to read it all, and most of all, I am grateful for your support and patronage! The best way to support my work is to buy my music, hire me for digital content creation or voice-over work, or become a paid subscriber.
Be amazing and let’s keep creating an adventure of a lifetime.
Until then, See you next week!
